Single Level Homes

There is so much demand today for single level living. Easy access and no stairs lead the list of requirements, but today’s single levels are far from a 1970’s ranch. Custom cabinets, granite counters, hardwood floors and exceptional fit and finish are common amenities expected by our clients. In addition, aging in place considerations often lead to simple design changes like three foot wide doors and ADA accessible bathrooms. Incorporating these changes up front can save time and money down the road.

Single level homes can also be exceptionally energy efficient and quiet. At LHL, we place a high priority on cost effective measures to make your home efficient. Blown in blanket insulation, high R-values in ceiling insulation, energy efficient windows, and high efficient furnaces are examples of low cost solutions that return big results. The single level home pictured below was designed specifically for our clients, one of whom was temporarily confined to a wheel chair in the aftermath of a stroke.  LHL modified an existing single level plan by adding wider halls and doors, a lift from the garage to the home, an expanded, fully functional ADA master bath and shower (no threshold), and seamless wheel chair patio access.  With a few well thought out modifications, this home made a huge difference in easing the day-to-day challenges of wheel chair care.
